In 2003, Mr. Person co-founded AIHF to be a new healthcare delivery model, designed around the integration of medical care, nutrition, exercise, wellness and counseling. The flagship facility of 187,000 sq ft on 16.5 acres in North Raleigh opened in 2007, and features 30 medical groups and healthcare businesses.  The AIHF concept was created to improve the collaboration of providers, reduce costs to providers and thus to consumers, enhance the convenience and high quality of personalized total well being care, offer multiple revenue streams to providers and participate in the restructuring of the nation's healthcare system.


His expertise is built from professional experience as a hospital administrator, global health consultant, author, teacher, volunteer leader and developer. He is board certified in Healthcare Management, and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.   Born in Raleigh N.C., the son of a hospital administrator, he earned a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill and a Master of Health Administration from Duke University. Training and work experience during college years included: Franklin Regional Medical Center, UNC Hospitals, Carteret General Hospital, Duke University Medical Center, Pickens Family Practice Clinic, Nash General Hospital and through the Duke Endowment 91 hospitals. 


As a hospital administrator at Rex Hospital, accomplishments included the planning and opening of the new 394-bed acute care hospital, cancer center, heart center, surgery center, 140-bed convalescent care center, managed care plan, community involvement strategy, satellite facilities strategy, primary care division, hospital information system and continuous quality improvement program. As Managing Director, Healthcare Network Development at NCHA, he led the creation of the North Carolina Rural Health Center, serving 75 hospitals and of statewide integrated delivery and financing system programs. As Global Practice Director, HealthCare Consulting at RTI International, he developed healthcare systems for other countries and provided planning & preparation advisory services for U.S. national health security.


Mr. Person served as Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Health Systems Development in Tokyo, Japan. His published works include textbooks on hospital information technology, hospital financial management and healthcare services for the elderly. He has lectured on hospital administration at Duke University, taught a course on healthcare information technology at UNC Chapel Hill and held other adjunct faculty positions including Washington University School of Medicine and UAB School of Health Related Professions. In 1981, he was appointed by the President of the United States to The Grace Commission. 


As a volunteer, he served as Chairman of: American Cancer Society North Carolina Division, American Cancer Society Southeast Division, American Cancer Society National Advisory Group on Strategic Planning and American Lung Association of North Carolina. He is the recipient of the 1992 St. George Medal - an American Cancer Society National Award, and the 2003 American Lung Association Above & Beyond Award.


In his personal time, Matt enjoys family and friends, golf, the coast, and international current events. He is a member of Louisburg United Methodist Church, the Friends of Duke University Chapel and the Person Place Preservation Society.


Abby Y. Fairbank, MPH

Mrs. Fairbank manages the daily operations of AIHF LLC, centered in our flagship AIHF Raleigh, home to our corporate headquarters and 30 provider groups and healthcare businesses. Her leadership includes financial management, marketing & public relations, community involvement, collaboration with strategic partners and project development across all five operating groups. She joined AIHF in 2005 and was instrumental in the development of our concept, the opening of our flagship and the establishment of our integration standards. She continually applies her strong interest in prevention and community health to the evolution of our model to serve specific populations.

Born in Raleigh N.C., the daughter of parents both with long-term distinguished healthcare careers, she earned a B.S. in Biology with Minors in Chemistry and Spanish from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Master of Public Health from The George Washington University. As Presidential Intern with American Red Cross, she conducted research on the effectiveness of CPR education and on contributing factors associated with CPR performance. As Programs Intern with Prevent Cancer Foundation, she completed projects on cancer education for high school girls, screenings for the underserved, and volunteer recruitment and training. Her volunteer program experience includes Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer with American Cancer Society, and a variety of initiatives with American Lung Association. She is a member of the American Public Health Association, St. Michael Catholic Church, and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
