Matthew M. Person III., FACHE

Mr. Person's expertise is built from his professional experience as a hospital administrator, global health consultant, author, teacher, volunteer leader, and developer. Born in Raleigh NC, the son of a hospital administrator, he earned a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC- Chapel Hill and a Master of Health Administration from Duke University. Training and work experience during college years included: Franklin Regional Medical Center, UNC Hospitals, Carteret General Hospital, Duke University Medical Center, Pickens Family Practice Clinic, Nash General Hospital, and through the Duke Endowment 91 North and South Carolina hospitals. As Executive Vice President of Rex Hospital, he participated in the planning, opening, and management of the 534-bed facility. As Managing Director, Healthcare Network Development at NCHA, he led the creation of the North Carolina Rural Health Center. As Global Practice Director, HealthCare Consulting at RTI International, he developed healthcare delivery systems for other countries and provided planning and preparation advisory services for U.S. national health security, and served as a Visiting Fellow of Institute of Health Systems Development in Tokyo, Japan. He has authored textbooks on healthcare information technology, financial survival in America's evolving healthcare system, and healthcare services for the elderly. He has taught courses on strategic management at Duke University and on hospital information systems at UNC - Chapel Hill, and held adjunct faculty positions including Washington University School of Medicine and UAB School of Health Related Professions. In 1980, he was appointed by the President of the United States to The Grace Commission. As a volunteer, he has served as President of the American Cancer Society Southeast Division, Chairman of the American Cancer Society National Advisory Group on Strategic Planning, and is currently Past Chairman of the Board of the American Lung Association of North Carolina and President of AIHF Foundation. He is the recipient of the 1992 St. George Medal, an American Cancer Society National Award, and the 2003 American Lung Association Above & Beyond Award. Mr. Person is board certified in Healthcare Management, and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a member of the Louisburg United Methodist Church, the Friends of Duke University Chapel, and the Board of Directors of Person Place Preservation Society, and is an Honorary Rotarian.

James R. Stevens, M.D.

Dr. Stevens' expertise is built from his professional experience as a family practice and sports medicine physician, primary care multi-specialty leader, sports team physician, clinical preceptor, and civic leader. A long-time resident of Raleigh NC, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from UNC-Chapel Hill, a Doctor of Medicine from East Carolina University School of Medicine, completed a Family Practice Residency at the Fairfax Family Practice Program of the Medical College of Virginia and a Sports Medicine Fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill. He founded and currently serves as President of Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine, located in Cary NC with a second office to be at AIHF. He serves as Head Medical Team Physician for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League, Head Company Physician for the Carolina Ballet, and provides sports medicine services to many area high schools. Dr. Stevens is the 1999 recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of North Carolina. He is board certified in family practice and in sports medicine. He is currently Chairman of the Board of AIHF Foundation.
